Shootin’ the Breeze…It’s a great time for new beginnings

by Cathy Leestma

Happy New Year to all! Perhaps this is the most important new  year we’ve all had in a while.

It is with a grateful spirit and a trove of memories that I am writing my last “Shootin’ the Breeze” to you. As wise King Solomon proclaimed “to everything there is a season and time for every matter under heaven.” This issue of The Breeze, our 100th,,  completes this part of our journey.

Dave and I began our ownership of The Mountain Breeze in the fall of 2005. We took over the reins from Bill and Betty Williams and now hand them over to Scott and Meda Baughman.

The new ownership will bring new life and vitality through these pages and with our online presence  to this region. Thank you for giving them a warm welcome. This is small town community at its best. You have a story to share and The Breeze is here to share it. Because we service many small communities with The Breeze in the greater Lake Lure area, the flavors of news and events are varied and colorful.

Dave and I have thousands of moments to remember as we produced The Breeze. They will remain as part of our story, and we can’t wait to see what flavor the next generation of The Breeze will become!

As in all worthwhile ventures, there may be some rocky roads but in the end fresh peaches and cream will win.

 Best wishes!
