Trash Talkin’ 2022

By Moe Bay

Boys Camp Road in Lake Lure is approximately 2.5 miles long from The Flowering Bridge to where it splits on to Village Boulevard and Cut Away. This stretch of town road now has 24 full bags of trash LESS than it did before.

Thanks to a volunteer group of local caring residents and about two hours of work, this stretch of roadway has been completely cleared of trash.  The volunteers went down the steep embankments, into the woods and wherever their eyes spotted the litter to take it away.

A variety of items were found!  We took away engine parts, construction debris and lots of beer cans in addition to paper and cardboard.

We love living here in the mountains and we want it to stay natural and beautiful. We urge everyone to be good stewards of the land. Please don’t litter!
