Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach has received $2,500 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need. Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach will use the gift to purchase food for its holiday food baskets for neighbors in need.
Karen King, Office Manager for Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach, said, “This grant will allow us to provide food to more people at a time of increased need.”
Serving families extending into four counties (serving some but not all of Rutherford, Polk, Buncombe and Henderson counties), Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach’s mission is to help eliminate hunger and provide emergency services with love and compassion to those in need. All programs and activities are solely supported by volunteers and generous donors.

Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves.
