Lake Lure Lions holds 37th Annual Golf Tournament

The Lake Lure Lions Club held their 37th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Bald Mountain Golf Course at Rumbling Bald. For the third year, Lion Trip Lanham, Golf Tournament Chair orchestrated a very successful tournament. It takes the whole club to make a great fundraiser. There are many details to oversee and jobs to fulfill.

Eighty-four golfers enjoyed a beautiful day of golf. A fun day was had by all. Lunch was provided and all winners received a nominal cash prize. Congratulations to the tournament winners.

The Lions main motto is “We Serve.” Its primary mission is, “To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.” The Lake Lure Lions conduct service and fundraising activities and donate to nonprofit organizations and causes, such as Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach. The club provides aid to visually impaired persons and to local fire and EMS departments, awards scholarships to qualified local high school students, sponsors the Lake Lure Leo Club and assists other worthy initiatives.

The Lake Lure Lions give a big THANK YOU to our Tee Sponsors as they are the heart of the fundraising effort for this Lions event. Thanks also to Ingles in Lake Lure for providing coffee and donuts at registration.

If you are interested in joining the Lake Lure Lions Club, feel free to reach out to President Fay Kobland at her email address fkobland@gmail.com. The club meets at La Strada Restaurant the second Thursday of each month. Beyond helping the community, members have a lot of fun, build camaraderie and develop essential teambuilding and leadership skills.
