Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation hosts Community Impact Awards

The Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation will host our 12th Community Impact Awards on September 20th, 5:00 at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa. Tickets are available on our website, www.hngfoundation.org

This year’s James Dunn Community Impact Award recipients are well-known to the Hickory Nut Gorge because they have been so active over many years. This year, we are granting the award to 4 people. But they were reluctant to receive the award, feeling that others were more deserving. It is the first time we are granting the award to board members of the HNG Foundation. We are honoring Pam and Bob Keith, and Linda and Woody Turner.  Bob and Woody are very involved with the Foundation and we did not want to wait for them retire from the board or have to kick them off just to honor them.

Bob and Pam Keith have been active members in the community for many years. Pam is passionate about animals and served as one of the only pet sitters in the community. She became to go to person when there was a lost or missing animal or a problem with a wild animal. She has also supported many of our community members with rides to doctors appointments, meals, and help with activities when needed. Bob served as mayor for 8 years and was an important leader during many challenges. He is passionate about economic development and through his work with Hickory Nut Gorge Chamber of Commerce, was key in bringing The Landings to our community. He has also been involved with Hospice for many years.

Linda and Woody are just as active in the community. Linda served on Town Council. Woody is one of the founding board members of the Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation. Linda is passionate about the Lake Lure Classical Academy and served several terms on the board. She is also an active volunteer with Lil’s Place.

Both couples are also very active in their church, Fairfield Mountain Chapel.  Bob and Linda sing in the choir. All four have served in many leadership capacities for the church and its missions.

We are honored to recognize these four individuals who have worked so hard to make the Hickory Nut Gorge a better place to live.  Please join us in honoring Pam and Bob Keith and Woody and Linda Turner on Wednesday September 20th, 2023 at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa. We will gather at 5:00. Tickets are $50 per person and are on sale at our website:  www.hngfoundation.org
