I think Fall is my favorite season in Lake Lure. The leaves start to change, we have those cool mornings and warm afternoons, bonfires, outdoor movies, warm pumpkin flavored drinks, and of course, happenings at Mountains Branch Library!
In order to make scheduling easier, I have started doing programming a little differently. Instead of random dates and times, I will have programs at certain times during the month; the same time every month going forward. We will still have “pop-up” programming, but for the most part, programming will be as follows each month:
Every Monday & Wednesday – Clogging (a new beginners class is starting soon!)
Every Friday – Quilting (bring your machine and join us)
2nd Monday of each month – Book Club (everyone is welcome to join)
2nd Tuesday of each month – Lake Lure Genealogy (all are welcome)
1st Wednesday of each month – Historical or Educational Video at 1:00 (bring popcorn!)
2nd Thursday of each month – ADULT Seasonal craft at 11:00 am
3rd Monday of each month – Kids program at 4:30
Last Friday of each month – On the Menu with Maria at 1:00
All programming information can be found at www.rutherfordcountylibrary.org/events, www.facebook.com/lakelurelibrary, www.facebook.com/rutherfordcountylibrary, the bulletin board inside the library, and the newsletter that you receive, hopefully, from Friends of the Mountains Branch Library. Don’t forget to pull into our parking lot and see the information on our sign for upcoming events and information. Mountains Branch Library would like to welcome Ginny Austin as our new full-time Library Associate. Ginny has been working at County Library for a number of months and we are very pleased to be able to have her full-time now. Ginny has years of education experience and has a wonderful history of travel and a very interesting life. Please stop by and introduce yourself to Ginny. I know you will love her as much as we do!

We have so many new people moving to Lake Lure and that just makes my heart happy! When new patrons tell me that they were vacationing here and decided to move her permanently – well, I can understand why! They talk about the beauty of our area some, but mostly they talk about our people and how nice you all are; and I agree.
If you are new to the area or have been here a little while and just haven’t gotten around to getting your library card, just come in and we can help you out.
