The fall equinox and the first day of autumn arrived on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 02:50 A.M. in the Northern Hemisphere, and we were blessed with cooler, beautiful days on Saturday and Sunday. I share this information, so all are aware of the Episcopal Church of the Transfigurations Firewood Ministry’s need to be prepared for the upcoming season of providing firewood to those in need throughout the greater Hickory Nut Gorge area for both the heating of their homes as well as a few who use wood-fired cooking stoves.
Our church’s Firewood Ministry Team has done a remarkable job cutting and splitting wood during the first half of this year to increase our firewood inventory. We also have had to cut down numerous trees on our campus, which will help provide one of our most extensive firewood supplies since the conception of this vital ministry. The Team will put together some future workday plans to cut and split the remaining trees on our campus. We have installed a new metal shed to store firewood on our church campus. This will help the curing process and ensure we always have dry firewood to deliver for all those in need.
This Firewood Ministry provides a vital service to our community members all year in the gorge. Feel free to reach out to the Church of the Transfiguration here in Bat Cave, and you, too, can be a part of a wonderful team. So, join the fellowship and fun with our Firewood Ministry by contacting us if you are interested. Come join us in breathing in the sound, clean mountain air, cutting wood, splitting wood, or just loading and delivering firewood with others who share fellowship; then drop us a note at Secretary@ectransfiguration.org or call us at 828- 625-9244. Leave your name and phone number and let us know if you want to assist our Firewood Ministry. You certainly can also contact us if you have some wood that you would like to donate.
Come out and join in the fellowship and fun with our wonderful and very active Firewood Ministry.
Grace and Peace!
