Your Chamber at Work…Revved up and Ready for Help

by Laura Doster

2022 and The Hickory Nut Chamber is off to the races. Once again, our small Chamber celebrates finding ourselves up to our eyeballs with a ton of upcoming community events, economic development projects, grant opportunities to share with our business members, marketing opportunities, collaborative efforts with other WNC Chambers, Rutherford County and our communities, communication opportunities, and continuing efforts to find new and innovative ways to serve our business community, just to name a few. Very exciting and daunting at the same time. Fortunately, our community has some very special people that have jumped in and made a difference. However, we are a small community and could use more help. If you are looking for a way to get involved with the Lake Lure, Rumbling Bald, Chimney Rock, Gerton & Bat Cave Communities, we would be thrilled to help you make the connection. Here is a list of upcoming and ongoing functions, events & committees you may be interested in:

Events:
Classical Car & Antique Boat Show, Spring Arts & Crafts Festival, Lure of the Swim, Lake Lure Classical Academy’s Music Festival, 4th of July Celebration & Fireworks, Olympiad, Dirty Dancing Event, Jeep Show, Fall Arts & Crafts Festival, 3rd Annual Light Up the Gorge, and Holiday Gala. More to come as they are announced.

Committees within the Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge (at this time):
Lake Lure Farmer’s Market, Community Development, Economic Development/New Business, Membership Committee, Dirty Dancing Committee, Hickory Nut Gorge Outdoor Branding Initiative, Marketing & PR of the Gorge, Our Legislative Voice, and Expanding the shoulder season for January – March 2023.

While this may not appear to be much, each event and committee carries many subcategories.

We are blessed to have an influx of new families and individuals moving to our area. Please know we welcome you. We also strongly recommended you get involved and help make a difference in this magical mountain community we call The Hickory Nut Gorge. We also have many long term “natives” we wish to encourage to reach out as well. Our Chamber has an open door policy. If you are interested in helping, give us a call to schedule a meeting or send me an email.

Thank you

With Peace Profound,
