Letter to the Editor: Open Letter to the community of Lake Lure

In 2018, our family made a decision to open a new business.  Boon Life Adventures was born with a mission to serve and host others to create positive experiences.

We searched for quite some time looking for just the perfect place. We decided on the Lake Lure area for its beauty, location, and demographics. What we have learned since moving here is that the real gem of this area is the community of people who also call it home.

On the night of October 20, 2022, our house caught on fire and in a matter of minutes we lost our home, our business, and nearly all of our worldly possessions. By the grace of God our family and pets made it out alive.  Thanks to the efforts of Bill’s Creek, Green Hill, Fairfield Mountain,  Lake Lure, Rutherford County, and Sunny View Fire Departments the fire was contained and no one was injured.

Since that night we have received a flowing fountain of blessings from our community. We would like to take a moment to say thank you.  Words will never be able to express our gratitude for the overwhelming donations and support that have carried and lifted us up after the fire. We are so grateful to live in such a kind and generous area whose people and houses of worship continually join together for us and other in their times of need. You are all a strong and compelling example of compassion and selflessness. Thanks to your kindness we have been sustained on a path that has given us a plan for permanent housing and a hope to reopen our business in January 2023.

We love you all and will be forever grateful to our Lake Lure family.
