From the Librarian…A place for togetherness

I am still amazed every single day at the people of Lake Lure and the love they show for their neighbors and community as a whole! People are still checking on each other, donating supplies, working together, and so much more. We had someone here from Mississippi today working on Disaster Relief. Though I hate the disaster part, the togetherness is heart-warming!

Cathie Solomonson was here in January and spoke about her time as a nurse in Vietnam to a crowd of almost 60 people! We had an amazing turnout and her story was riveting. Thank you, Cathie, for coming to talk to us!

Marcie the Balloon Fairy was here in February and taught almost 20 of us how to twist balloons into a sword, a doggie, and how to make the coolest balloon hats EVER! We had so much fun! I may have found a new career. LOL. Thank you to the Friends of the Mountains Branch Library for their continued support in funding these events. We couldn’t do it without you!!!

Mountains Branch Library is a part of the Rutherford County Library System. Our main branch is in Spindale (NOT the Spindale Library…. that is a totally different library). In addition to Mountains and the main branch, we have a branch located in Mooresboro by the name of Haynes Branch Library. We all work together as a team and you may see different people at different branches at different times – but we all love our jobs and love to travel to the other branches to see how they do things and meet their patrons. If you are ever near the other branches, stop in and say “hi” and check out their offerings – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Come see us soon! We miss you!
