Fishin’…Good days and Bad days!

Well I’ve been guiding now for 31 years. I have had some really good days on the water and some really great days! A good day on the water is when you have a lot of fun, make good memories and every one catches fish. A great day on the water is catching 33 bass in 45 minutes! Those make it worth all the effort that goes into taking someone out on the water for a fishing trip.

An average day, is when you fish all day and at the last minute or even the last cast someone catches a fish. That’s happened more than you know. Not many times do we get skunked.

A bad day is when you go out, fish hard for four hours and can’t catch a single fish. I had a fishing trip on Saturday afternoon November 28th. I usually fish in the morning but the weather wasn’t going to be great. Cold and windy so we waited for the middle of the day to hope it was warmer. Ha! Anyway, we fished hard and could not get a fish. Then the trolling motor remote fell into the water. When I leaned over to pick it out of the water I lost my balance and fell. I thought I was going in. I actually said that as I fell face first in my boat. I cut my eye and hit my nose and tweaked my wrist. Twisted my glasses. I don’t know how I didn’t fall in but very glad I didn’t. It was 37 degrees and windy. That’s a bad day on the lake.

The best part of being a guide is that more days are good or great then average or bad.

Looking forward to the 2026 season.
