Fishin’…Anticipation!!

That is really all I can say right now. The last time I fished Lake Lure was September 24th 2024. Three days before we were hit by hurricane Helene. For about two weeks I think I was in shock! We’ve had bad storms before. 1996 and 2006 come to mind. The fishing was still good after both of those storms. But this one was different. This was a true disaster.

That day we caught several largemouth and white bass. Most of those fish were caught on an umbrella rig and a zoom fluke.

That was 19 months ago. In that time there has been quite a lot of work going on to put the lake back to as close to normal as it can get. My hats off to everyone that has been working so hard to clean up the mess that was made.

I said anticipation and that’s what I feel now. After fishing and guiding on Lake Lure for over 31 years I can’t wait to get back out there and see what happens.

I personally have seen bass chasing bait as the lake has been rising. And I have heard people say they see fish around there docks. I’ve also heard that the fish have been coming to the surface to feed out in the lake. All of this is exciting news.

I was told by the powers that be that as soon as the lake is safe, that we will be able to get back out on the lake and resume fishing and enjoying the beauty of our little piece of heaven.

So if you want to go fishing just give me a call. Michael Lewis 828-223-0269 Lewis No Clark Expeditions
