Tryon Little Theater’s 2026 Summer Youth Show presents Disney’s “Newsies Jr.”, an adaptation of the hit Broadway musical designed for young performers. The show was inspired by the real-life newsboys’ strike in New York City in 1899, who unite to fight against unfair conditions imposed by powerful newspaper publishers. Based on the 1992 film, music is by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and the book by Harvey Fierstein.
This 60-minute production is directed by Donna Everett-Ferguson, with music director Pam McNeil. A huge and talented cast of local youth (42 of them!) are working hard to bring this rousing and powerful musical to the stage in Tryon.
