Some people might consider September the beginning of Fall. But those of us in the Isothermal Belt know that any signs of fall weather in September constitutes “Fake Fall.” We know we are going to be hot, hot, hot until sometime in October – maybe even November. So don’t break out the cardigans just yet. Unless, of course, it is a library cardigan. You know the one. That comfy cardigan you wear around the house and love to snuggle into while reading. Librarians love some cardigans and Ginny and I are no different!

If you missed Books & Bites this summer, you still have one more chance. Katherine Reay will be here to promote her book The Undercover Bookshop on October 8th at 11:30. You still have time to make your reservations by calling Mountains Branch Library at 828-287-6392. You don’t know how much we appreciate your support for Books & Bites as it is our major fundraiser for the library!
This summer has been amazing at Mountains Branch Library! We have seen so many new faces, old faces, and visiting faces. It is so good to know that our community is coming back to life!
As many of you know, I am working on my Master of Library and Information Science degree at University of Southern Mississippi (online). I have two more semesters and should graduate in May 2027. I would like to thank the Bill’s Creek Community Club for the much-needed scholarship towards my education. I cannot thank you enough for believing in me!
One of my favorite parts of my job is registering new patrons for a Rutherford County Library System card! I love telling them about all our activities, our items available for circulation, about the other libraries in Rutherford County, and how their card will give them access to many libraries across the state. I also tell new residents about how the Lake Lure Newcomers had to change their name because no one ever left the group. Everyone gets a kick out of that, but it speaks volumes about our community and how close we are.
September brings some fun programs to Mountains Branch Library, and I hope you will be able to attend them all!
