The Park is once again coming alive with fall color! Starting along the Skyline trail you can spot the first changes of the season. As the month continues, you’ll be able to see the gradual color shift across the Gorge. Fall is a wonderful time to witness nature, and spend time in the great outdoors. Beautiful colors, migrating bird species, and cool & crisp temperatures can turn any hike into an adventure. Make sure to visit the website and follow along with the Park’s weekly Fall Color Reports to see what the views will look like during your visit! Not only can you visit the Park for the scenery this month but make sure to join us for some of the events we’re hosting as well.

We’re starting the month off with an Annual Passholder favorite event, our Sunrise Breakfast. This event, for Passholders only, offers a chance to see the Park before the gates open to enjoy the quiet of a beautiful fall morning from the top. Sip on warm coffee and enjoy the companionship of the other Passholders in attendance as a gorgeous sunrise peaks over Lake Lure. We can’t think of a better way to start the day!
Not an Annual Passholder? Visit our website at ChimneyRockPark.com or stop by the Ticket Plaza to purchase your pass today. It’s less than the cost of two day passes and priced at $32 you get a year of unlimited Park access, discounted tickets for guests, savings on event registration, and more!
Make sure to stop by on Saturday, October 17th for National Trails State Day. We’re celebrating NC, a.k.a “The Great Trails State” by hiking some of our favorite trails with a Park Naturalist. Or, join us that evening for the Nature at Night Hike. Learn more about the Park’s rarely-seen residents, and watch as the forest comes alive at night!
Don’t forget to join us later in the month, during peak foliage color, for the next installment of our Naturalist Niche series: the Fall Color Hike. Every year, thousands of people travel to see the wonderful seasonal changes in WNC, and it is a highlight for us locals too! Enjoy this opportunity to learn more about the stunning fall flora and fauna that is on full display at the Park.
