Mountains Branch Library…The “Fake Fall” arrives

October’s “Fake Fall” is here and I am so excited! Even though I know the cooler weather won’t be here to stay for a couple of more months, I am still happy to get back down in the 80’s instead of the upper 90’s!

Below you will find a list of our upcoming amazing programs. We hope you will cut this out and place it on the refrigerator and register to attend all these fun activities. But, we don’t want you to forget the original intent of the library – BOOKS, BOOKS, and more BOOKS! In case anyone ever tells you that you spend too much time reading, hit them with the facts; there are health benefits to reading such as: (according to various medical journals)

  • Reduces stress and improves sleep
  • Fights cognitive decline
  • Increases empathy
  • Extends lifespan

So, see, you are not *just* reading, you are basically getting healthy.

Rutherford County Library System has recently received a bath of PLAYAWAY Kids audio books for our Juvenile collection. These things are crazy cool! They are smaller than an index card and come preloaded with a chapter book. Also included are earbuds for your listening pleasure. We also have YOTO players and cards for circulation. The cards are preloaded with a story (or two) that can be inserted into your personal YOTO player, or you can check out one of ours. Listening to an audio book can be so much better than just scrolling on a phone or tablet!

I would like to thank our Friends of the Mountains Branch Library and our volunteers for all their support and help. We could not run this library without them. Or without you and your support. If you would like to help Mountains Branch Library financially, there are several ways to do so. 1) Join the Friends of the Mountains Branch Library (application available at the circulation desk), 2) make a donation to the library in the form of cash, check, or debit/credit card, 3)”rent” the digital sign to say congratulations to a loved one, 4) remember us when you need to donate money for that tax credit, 5) remember us when you write your Last Will and Testament, 6) run in and throw cash on the counter and run away. LOL. Truly, your donations help us continue the programs we do, purchase new material for circulation, pays for most of the really awesome and amazing themed dinners, and more.

Come in and see us. It is Fake Fall outside, but it is always cool inside Mountains Branch Library! We love you and we miss you!
