Since our beginning in 2011, education has been a central part of Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. Each year we offer many educational classes, workshops and events that are enjoyed by residents and visitors from near and far.
Like everything at LLFB, each aspect of our beloved Education Center is a collaboration of our amazing volunteers, donors and supporters. Next time you visit us, take a moment to enjoy the hand-made sign on the front of the building and the stained-glass window. The window was custom made for us by local artist Dee Montgomery and was installed in December 2025. The window is in memory of Bill Bay and was made possible by donations from friends of Bill Bay.
The Education Center is now open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to noon.
We invite you to stop by to see the displays like hydroponics, rocks, fossils, children’s “Discovery Table” and “Activity Table”, video on the “Lake Lure Flowering Bridge before Hurricane Helene and After”. Visit the Horticultural Library and read a children’s book with your child. We have many opportunities to take a class or workshop to learn something new.

Many of our visitors have asked us about the carnivorous plants in the Education Center and how to grow them. Join us for a class for beginners to learn about these special plants and how to grow them as a hobby. Plant care, growing seeds, where to purchase them from and the importance of protecting these special plants found in the Carolinas will be discussed.

All classes require pre-registration which can be done on our website at lakelurefloweringbridge.org/education/. Classes do have a fee, and space is limited so be sure you sign up early!
There is a lot to see and enjoy now on both ends of the gardens and in the Education Center.
